Welcome to a visual space showcasing some of
Michele's latest works.
Based in Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo, South Africa, Michele works with natural materials, ostrich egg and ceramics, combining them in a stylish, functional way to create beautiful pieces that are contemporary yet timeless.
Various gallery spaces in the Oudtshoorn area and in the Western Cape hold pieces. Please feel free to contact Michele for more information or to organise a viewing of her work by appointment.
Commissions are welcomed.

It all started in 2004 after Michele began playing around with various types of mosaic applications using a variety of materials. One of her primary materials was ostrich eggshell, widely available in the Little Karoo. Lately, Michele has bought a kiln, and has started combining ceramics and mosaics very successfully. The combination of ceramics and eggshell has a unique earthy natural look. The use of warm colours is a key feature of her pieces although if a piece is commissioned, the client is able to chose their colour scheme.
Michele's Dad was a well-known photographer in Cape Town during the 80s. As a student, she worked for him and always wanted to further her love for the arts, but it stayed a dream for years. After several years working in the UK, Michele moved back to South Africa and found herself in Oudtshoorn where she has been for 11 years, and is happy to finally be doing what she loves the most.
She enjoys this medium because it is ever-changing and evolving. She is able to make up anything, from kitchenware to coffee tables. Her works are mostly functional goods and represent fantastic value for money.
Most of Michele's work is commission work and prices are reasonable, ranging from R50 for small items to R5000 for large tables. She employs local disabled and disadvantaged people to help her produce her pieces. |
